Rail Crossing Diversion Order - Footpath No 4

We have received notification of a rail crossing diversion order concerning FP 4. The Order, if confirmed as made, will result in the diversion of a 22 m length of Uffington FP 4 running in a southerly direction over the Didcot to Swindon railway track, to a line running over a pedestrian footbridge.

Uffington Parish Council Annual Assembly - 11 April 2016

Uffington Parish Council's Annual Assembly will take place at 8.00pm on Monday 11 April, in the THMH.  Refreshments will be provided.

(The monthly Parish Council meeting will commence at 7.00pm.)  
 
This is an important point in the year, as it is OUR opportunity to explain to all residents what has been achieved on your behalf in the last year, and our proposals for 2016 / 2017.   It is YOUR opportunity to raise any matters of concern to you; if we cannot help then we will try to find someone who can. We would like to see as many people as possible.
 
The theme for this year's Annual Assembly will be to share with you our proposals for the S106 contributions to come to the Parish from the Jack's Lea development.  
 
The outline agenda will be:

  • Report on 2015 / 2016
  • Objectives for next year
  • Report by National Trust
  • Neighbourhood Plan update
  • S 106 contributions from the Jack's Lea development, including a presentation on the Public Art contribution by VOWHDC

Oxford County Council - Easter Activities Special
Farmer Gows, at Longcot, offer a workshop for children aged 10+ years, available daily February to March. Enjoy some great 'hands on' with the lambs and ewes, learning about their daily care. Come behind the scenes to see how we care for our newborn lambs.

Vale District Council

Charity football match in Faringdon on 27 March

Faringdon Neighbourhood Police Team will be taking part in a Charity Football Match in Faringdon.

The Neighbourhood team, in Partnership with the Town Council and Faringdon football club are holding a Community football match with some local youths from the Faringdon area on Sunday 27 March. The event will start at 1pm, and will take place at Tuckers Park, Park Road, Faringdon.

This is a community event so spectators and support are very welcome.

Gladman application for 30 houses on land west of Fawler Road

The appeal by Gladman Developments against the refusal by the Vale District Council to grant planning permission has been refused by the Planning Inspectorate.

This will be welcome news to the majority of people in Uffington, many of whom took the trouble to write initially to the Vale District Council and later to the Planning Inspectorate about their concerns.

This shows how mobilising the local population to mount an evidence-based campaign (rather than an emotional one) against an unpopular proposal, can still work.

Compost giveaway - 9 and 10 April 2016

From the Vale District Council:
This April the compost giveaway weekend is back! Come along with your own box, bag or container to fill up with local compost!  This year we are trying to get more compost delivered for both days so everyone gets an opportunity to take some compost home. The events will start at 9am for all.South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse residents on:
Saturday 9 April between 9am – 11am at Rye Farm car park, Culham Road, Abingdon, OX14 3NN (located off Bridge Street just south of the River Thames)
And,
Sunday 10 April between 9am– 11am at the old South Oxfordshire District Council car park, Benson Lane, Crowmarsh Gifford, OX10 8ED
There will be Master Composters on hand to answer your gardening and composting questions, Love Food Hate Waste advisors to help you reduce your food waste and save money, and the waste and recycling team will also be there to answer any recycling queries or questions.
Grab yourself some recycling goodies, compost bins (£10 cash!) and replacement kitchen caddies, buckets and liners (all while stocks last.  Remember to bring a shovel! A poster is attached here:

And whilst (loosely) on the subject of rubbish, have you ever wondered what happens to your rubbish after it's collected from your black bin? Come for a tour at Ardley ERF (that big building on the M40 by Banbury) and find out how your waste creates enough energy for 38,000 homes!
 
The tour is booked in at 10am on 12 April 2016 for all South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse residents.

Palm Sunday Walk - 20 March

Palm Sunday Walk - 20 March

All are welcome to join us on our Palm Sunday procession, with a donkey, on 20 March. We'll be passing THMH around 10.15am for a service in St. Mary's at 10.30am.

 

If you want to join the walkers earlier we'll be leaving Shellingford Church at 8.30am, and Baulking Church at 9.30am (wear walking boots).
