Winter Warmer lunches in the THMH
I expect most people will have realised this, but sadly we will be unable to offer our Tuesday Winter Warmer Lunches in the THMH this winter. We very much hope that when the Covid situation improves we will be able to get together again over a bowl of soup or stew!

Please note that last year we were able to give the Benefice £7,000 but, this year, unless we can gain more members, we will not be able to pay nearly as much. We realise that times are hard at present but by joining the Club you will get the opportunity to win prizes every quarter. Each number requires a payment of £50 for the year and we encourage participants to sign a standing order form (that they can cancel at any time) to make life easier for all concerned and to keep our costs down. Coronavirus (COVID-19): What has changed – 22 September
The government has today announced further national measures to address rising cases of coronavirus in England.
This update mentions NHS QR codes. Businesses and other premises open to the public will need to display the official NHS QR code posters so that customers can 'check-in' at different premises using this option as an alternative to providing their contact details (on paper) once the app is rolled out nationally, (from 24 September). Each building needs to have its own unique poster– here are the instructions on how to do this

Active 60 Campaign. Oxfordshire's children are facing a health crisis. In 2019, 48% of children in our county were not getting enough exercise. On top of this, physical activity levels for children have plummeted following Covid-19, with only 19% of children meeting Chief Medical Officer guidelines of 60 active minutes a day.
In Oxfordshire, this means that over 68,000 children are currently at risk of poor health and wellbeing as well as not enjoying other far reaching benefits of being active, such as improved educational attainment. Active Oxfordshire is launching a new Active 60 campaign to help ensure that every child in Oxfordshire can achieve 60 active minutes, every day. Courier delivery
For many years, Helen Godsell has organised a small team of Uffington residents to deliver the Courier around the village. Due to house moves and shielding during the pandemic, we are looking for some new volunteers to help Helen. It is 2 to 3 hours work, walking around a sector of the village, four times a year.

Uffington Apple Juice
A huge thanks to all who donated apples to the Obermans this week. 18 crates (250 - 300 kgs) were today delivered to "My Apple Juice" near Hungerford and in the next week or 2 we will collect, we hope, about 120 bottles of pasteurized juice, with a personalized village label, which we will be selling to raise funds for St. Mary's Church, and ACCESS Bangalore. Watch this space!

Ride and Stride, Saturday 12th September, 10am-6pm
Cycle, walk or horse ride between the churches in Oxfordshire to raise money for your church and Oxfordshire Historic Churches Trust. Sponsorship forms are online this year from www.ohct.org.uk/ride-stride plus a list of which churches are taking part. Please check before you Ride or Stride! Last year over £112,000 was raised and each church in our benefice gets 50% of what the parishioners can raise with all the proceeds going towards repairs to our churches which is very much welcomed by the church wardens! This event is very much open to villagers from Uffington, Woolstone, Baulking and Shellingford who would like to cycle or walk for a good cause...The vicar will be leaving from Uffington Church at 10am on 12th September on a route round other Churches of the Vale and would welcome any other cyclists who would like to join him!
