December Wed Walk 6th Dec, with lunch. An early reminder of the December Wednesday Village walk as we need to know numbers for our Christmas lunch. As it is a while since we walked locally, we thought it would be appropriate to celebrate the Christmas month with a walk up White Horse Hill followed by a Christmas lunch at the Fox and Hounds. If anyone would prefer not to do the walk you but would still like to come along for the lunch at about 12:30. you will be very welcome.
We will have a toast with mulled wine at the top of the hill, courtesy of the Walking Committee. So please make sure you bring along a small cup on the walk for some early Christmas cheer!
We will meet at 9:30 in the car park at Uffington Village Hall. The plan is to head up Sower Hill via the White Horse to the Ridgeway (possibly around Uffington Castle dependant on weather). Then back down to the village via Britchcombe Farm (access down the hill has been widened so we are no longer confined to the slippy path). And on to the Fox and Hounds for a jolly Lunch. The Fox do not currently have a Christmas menu but there is plenty of choice on their standard menu. Please let me know in plenty of time if you are coming along to the lunch so we can let the Fox and Hounds know numbers in advance. Do hope lots of you will join us.

St Mary's Church – Brass rota. St Mary's Church is wishing to reinstate the monthly Brass Cleaning Rota which lapsed over a year ago. We already have a few volunteers but with a few more helpers it means your turn comes round twice a year! Brasso will be provided - all you need is some old soft cloths and plenty of elbow grease. Stolen GPS systems returned after being listed on eBay. Following an investigation by the Thames Valley Police Rural Crime Taskforce, two stolen GPS systems were returned to their owner after being listed on eBay. Village news 17 November 2023 TOM BROWN'S SCHOOL MUSEUM - UFFINGTON
Last year we implemented a survey that showed that very few visitors knew or had heard of Thomas Hughes or Tom Brown's Schooldays. It was therefore suggested that the museum name should be changed, & after meetings with both the Trustees & Friends, it was agreed that the new name would be 'Uffington Museum'.
Ahead of the official launch next March, we are looking for anyone locally that would be able to design a new logo and branding for the museum. It will used for our new signage, posters and publicity including our website and Facebook page.
If you could help, whether as a professional or as a budding artist please contact uffingtonmuseumtrust@gmail.com by Friday 1st December.
Nothing else with regard to the museum will change - our collection will still give priority to anything and everything relating to Uffington and the surrounding villages.

UBW Minibus and The New No 68 Bus Service. We previously notified villagers of the new bus service 68 between Faringdon and Wantage, via Uffington and other villages, which will start on Monday 27th November. This is to assure everyone that the UBW Minibus services on Wednesdays and Fridays to Wantage will continue to run as usual.
The new service will be operated on six days a week by Pulhams and has features which could be useful on occasions when/where the minibus does not provide a service including access to Faringdon where we expect stops to be made along Park Road on the way in and out of town for medical and shopping facilities and on Saturdays. The service to Wantage terminates in the Town Square and bus passes may be used.
