Parking on Broad Street - around Uffington Church and School
It is well known that parking spaces in this part of the village are in short supply. It has been drawn to the attention of the Parish Council that vehicle access to the properties in this area is regularly blocked by inconsiderate parking on the hard standing, verges and gateways around the former telephone box. This is a particular problem at school drop-off and pick-up times and during major events in St Mary's Church.
It is an offence to park on the yellow zig zag lines outside the school which are there to protect children. If you block pedestrian access to the telephone box, you may prevent emergency pedestrian and/or vehicle access to the defibrillator or telephone exchange.
Uffington Parish Council urges all those visiting the School or attending St Mary's Church to be considerate to others when parking their cars, for however short a period. The obvious alternative is the village hall car park, or, if you live in the village, to walk.

There will be an opportunity to stop at The Lamb at the end of the walk for a coffee. If anyone would prefer to drive directly to Buckland and meet us there do let us know, so we know who to expect. Last of the Winter Lunches

Missing lady An Uffington resident has passed on an enquiry received from a policeman in a van, in Uffington, just now. They are searching for a lady from Sparsholt, missing for a few hours. She is in her 50's, wearing a pale purple cardigan, beige trousers and a furry hat.

Uffington, Baulking & Woolstone WI – 21 January
Make it your New Year's resolution to come to the UB&W WI meetings in the Thomas Hughes Memorial Hall in Uffington. We meet once a month, on a Tuesday at 7pm, and you will be made very welcome. The sessions may be intriguing, possibly amusing, informative and interesting.
Our next meeting is Tuesday 21st January our speaker is going to tell a "Fishy Tale". On the 11th February, Dr. Rob Russ is talking about Diabetes. Although it is a ladies group if any of the speakers interest the gentlemen, we would make you welcome as a guest.
An afternoon of friendly bridge – 25 February
An afternoon of friendly bridge with a really good tea will be held on Tuesday 25 February, 2 – 5pm, at the Thomas Hughes Memorial Hall, at £15.00 per person, in aid of all our 4 old Churches. Please come and bring some friends (all levels of bridge players are welcome). Any offers of help and contributions towards the tea would be greatly appreciated.

We are a local charity providing free, confidential advice. Last year, our 150 skilled advisers helped over 11,000 local people from advice centres in Abingdon, Didcot, Faringdon, Henley, Thame and Wallingford. Many people who come to us face difficult and sometimes frightening problems that threaten to overwhelm them. In 2019 we helped three quarters to resolve their problems.
For volunteers, we offer a welcoming office environment and an opportunity to gain new skills, meet new people and make a real and valued contribution to your local community, It's up to you when you volunteer. Vale of White Horse District Council – Deep Cleanse Service
We will be coming to Uffington for 3 days from 23/01/2020 to 27/01/2020, to perform a deep clean. We will be litter picking, sweeping and removing weeds/moss on pavements. We will not spray weeds, cut grass or vegetation or remove weeds and moss that is on roads. We only clear land to which the public is permitted access and that is under the direct control of the district council.
A comprehensive schedule of all adopted roads in the parish, including Jacksmeadow, has been offered to the team for their attention.
