From Local Government Bulletin, April 2026
From 1 April 2026, most planning applications made to local planning authorities will follow a new, simpler route if they are appealed and decided via written representations.
Regulations laid by government in February 2026 brought about this change in approach to keep decisions local and provide a quicker route for appeals. Under the new process, the majority of written representation appeals will accept only the evidence put before the local planning authority during application. This will not only speed up appeals but will also, importantly, encourage a full body of evidence to be provided at application stage, giving local planning authorities the information they need to make decisions – aligning with universal planning principles of keeping decisions local. Appellants will be able to indicate which procedure they consider most appropriate, along with their reasoning, during the appeal process.

Saturday, 16 May - St Mary’s Church Cake sale in church porch from 10am. Coffee/Tea available outside if dry. Running at same time as Gardening Club’s Plant Sale Trail around village.Contributions of cakes etc very welcome and helpers required. Please contact Fay Forster 898071.
Saturday 30 May - Churchyard Working Party. The next working party will be on Saturday 30 May at 10.00 am, when we gather to tidy up the churchyard. Please bring gloves and any suitable tools. There will be refreshments at half time! All are very welcome.

Our museum sits at the heart of the community, and we’re looking for local people who care about its future. Trustees help us stay vibrant, relevant, and welcoming to all. As a Trustee, you’ll make sure the museum stays relevant, exciting, and financially healthy. Your ideas, skills, and enthusiasm will help us reach more people, care for our collections, and create experiences that visitors will remember.

- Support decision‑making and planning
- Help us reach new audiences
- Ensure the museum remains a place of learning and enjoyment
- Bring your lived experience and enthusiasm to the table
- Join us for quarterly board meetings and occasional events or project groups
We welcome people from all walks of life. You don’t need to have been a trustee before as we’ll give you all the support and guidance you need. If you’re passionate about culture, community, or history or simply want to give something back this is a rewarding way to make a difference.
