Local Home Cooked Meals delivered straight to your door
Hello, my name is Mac and I live with my partner Karen in Woolstone. I run a small company called Passion Fine Dining Ltd (you have probably seen my little van running around?) and for obvious reasons I am not working for the foreseeable future. I am also in the high risk category so I am also having to stay isolated for a minimum of 3 months.
However, I am fortunate enough to still be able to receive meat orders from my butchers and vegetable orders from my suppliers due to the nature of my business (although sometimes the selection can be limited). I have been approached by a few people locally asking if I would consider doing a take-away service for meals which would include delivering around the local villages?
As I now have the time and where possible would love to be able to help make life just a little easier for people during these present times. My idea is to produce a small selection of 'comfort' meals for locals to order and my partner Karen will then deliver them in the safest conditions.
This is my opportunity to help if there is the need and I will cover my costs and for each item I will be donating 10% to the NHS. The meals will be prepared in portions of 2 and delivered either vac packed in plastic bags (easy to freeze/refrigerate) or in foil containers to put in the oven. The choice is restricted as the vegetables are limited, but I can at this stage provide the following based on 2 portions:-
Cottage Pie (in foil dish) - £12.00
Beef Bourguinonne (vac pac) - £14.00
Beef Rendang (Malaysian Curry) - £14.00
Chicken Curry (Mild) (vac pac) - £14.00
No rice is provided with the curries due to the hazards of reheating. This is an idea which will be based on feedback. There will be a minimum order of 4 portions of any one dish and payment can be made either in an envelope with cash or an electronic transfer on-line. Village news 17 April 2020 COVID-19 (Coronavirus) – information for all
Ski Goggles for Care Homes. Care Homes around the country are battling shortages of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like gowns, masks and face shields. Ski Goggles, it turns out, fit the bill for protective eyewear perfectly. Because of the foam around them, they seal well, but they're also designed not to fog up easily. We have requests from local care homes for over 150 pairs of goggles and we will be taking them to local care homes and hospitals this week. Both new and used Goggles are welcome as they can be decontaminated and disinfected. Lenses that are tinted, clear or dark, all work. If you have any Goggles that you'd like to donate, please put them into the box by the entrance gate to The Mill, Woolstone, as soon as possible.

Road closure 8 to 13 June 2020. We have been warned that Fawler Road (Fawler Hill) will be closed to all traffic, starting on 8 June with an estimated completion date of 13 June, to facilitate carriageway resurfacing and drainage works. This is a 24 hour closure. SUGGESTED ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Follow unnamed road from Fawler Road to B4507 at Blowing Stone Hill, continue right on B4507 to turn right to The Broadway. Follow the Broadway to Uffington. Turn right on Broad Street, Uffington and follow to Fawler Road, Uffington, where straight on to closure point; and vice versa.
(Whether this will actually happen under current circumstances remains to be seen – neither are we 100% sure that this actually includes Fawler Hill where resurfacing is most needed).
