Faringdon Neighbourhood Policing Team – Event Update. The Faringdon Neighbourhood Policing Team are scheduled to return to Uffington Farmers Market on Sunday 1 March, where we'll be available to discuss local concerns, offer crime prevention advice, and listen to what matters most to you. We will bring a large amount of smart water to cater for as many people as possible! Everyone is welcome to drop in and chat with the team.

Uffington Wed Walk 4th March - Uffington White Horse Hill and Wayland's Smithy. Despite the recent very welcome blue sky and sunshine unfortunately the Vale continues to be very wet. So we will delay our planned route along the Vale Way and return to it later in the year. Next Wednesday 4th March we stay local and head straight up to White Horse Hill on Sower Hill then along the Ridgeway toward Wayland's Smithy. Work has taken place recently to clear the view towards Waylands Smithy as you approach it by creating a lower dead hedge. Taking a break at Waylands Smithy, so bring along coffee or snacks if you would like to, we will then head back down the hill via Woolstone.
Meeting as always at Uffington Village Hall SN7 7SE car park at 9:20 for a 9:30 start. Weather looks promising - light cloud and light breeze and 12 degrees. Bridge Afternoon. Many thanks to all who helped with setting up the Hall, tidying up afterwards, and generously contributing delicious sandwiches and cakes, for the Bridge Afternoon on Wednesday 11 February. It was a great success making a total of slightly over £1,400, which will be shared equally between our 4 Churches.

New electric waste vehicle will save councils 13 tonnes of carbon emissions per year. There have been increased reports of serious break-ins to residential property across the rural wards in the district recently, including in Uffington and Woolstone, with one last weekend in Uffington.
The local police team have been attending markets etc and handing out marking equipment. At a recent event they were stating that due to the remote areas that the crimes are occurring in, the residents do need to take measures themselves such as home video cameras to hopefully obtain some 'useable' evidence.
Be aware and take all reasonable precautions in CCTV etc, locking houses and cars, marking expensive items of property. Consider Faraday (1) boxes or pouches for keys, especially for 'keyless' vehicles, and keep car and other domestic keys separate. - A Faraday box/pouch works by using a conductive enclosure—often made from metal—that absorbs and redirects electromagnetic waves. This creates a shielded environment that blocks RF signals from penetrating inside, protecting any electronic devices placed within it from interference or unauthorized communication - prevent external signals from entering and internal ones from escaping. Ground Work at the Village Hall - Footpath Closure Ground Work at the Village Hall - Footpath Closure
With the arrival of some dry weather, the Management Committee of the village hall have been able to arrange for work to start on the refurbishment of the exit to the small hall and the resurfacing of the path from Broad Street to the hall.
This work will be conducted over a number of days, starting Wednesday 25 February, and will necessitate the temporary closure of the footpath, which will be clearly signposted.
Pedestrians are requested to use the main entrance into the car park and vehicle drivers are requested to be extra vigilant.

Shrove Tuesday. Thanks to all who came to my Pancake parties on Shrove Tuesday and supported ACCESS, the charity which helps with the education of needy children and women in Bangalore, India. An amazing total of 75 people came to enjoy pancakes and good company over lunchtime and evening and thanks to everyone's generosity a wonderful sum of over £700 has been raised. Thomas Swaroop, who runs the charity, will be absolutely delighted. Fenella.
Recycling Computer Ink Cartridges. Thank you to everyone who has donated computer ink cartridges for recycling in aid of Suited & Booted.
I am delighted to say that we have reached a very important milestone, for which we have received the attached certificate: raising £500 for the charity. You have also saved over 25 kgs of cartridges from landfill. Please keep donating your cartridges, either to me or put them in the box at the village shop.
