Thank you to Keith who was the first to respond & has now delivered his dehumidifier to the museum - we're hoping this will help with the damp that has led to mould on some of the box files in this humid weather. Thank you again & look forward to seeing you in the museum over the summer.
Can you help Uffington Museum - urgent | Does anyone have a dehumidifier that they would be willing to loan to the museum on a temporary basis? It is needed to protect the contents of the museum and would only be needed while this humid weather continues. It would only be used for a couple of hours three times a week, while someone was present in the museum.

Village News - 22 July 2016 | The Bus
Sadly, the 67 bus serving Uffington and other local villages is to be taken off this weekend. A new 67 service directly between Wantage and Faringdon, stopping in Stanford-in-the Vale and East Challow, commences next week.
The UBW minibus committee received a modest number of responses to the survey of villagers concerning future services in the light of the loss of the 67. There was no indication from this that demand will increase significantly, and the existing services were generally felt to be appropriate. There were a few suggestions for a Wednesday run to Wantage.
In the light of this the existing services will continue, and a Wednesday run will start on a trial basis, on 27 July. Membership of the minibus association will be offered to passengers from Kingston Lisle, Westcot, Sparsholt and Childrey wishing to travel to Wantage as the survey indicates there will continue to be space on the minibus.
Villagers are reminded that regulations require them to join the UBW Minibus Association in order to use these services, and this can be done by a call to 01367 820417.
If you are interested in sharing transport, there is a county-wide lift share scheme which offers a matching service for people (over the age of 18) who live, work and travel in and around Oxfordshire. The site matches people up with potential partners as either a driver or a passenger. Once matched, people can choose to lift share as little or as often as they like. The scheme is only available via the internet and the link to the site is: https://oxfordshire.liftshare.com/
If you have friends or neighbours without access to the internet, please be prepared to help; it is possible to arrange lifts for others.
Charity Fun Run on 21 August
Uffington Witches would like to invite anyone who is interested to take part in a charity 5k (ish) run/walk on Sunday 21st August 2016 round Uffington and Woolstone to help raise funds for Team Mikayla, a registered charity granting wishes for children with cancer.
We will be meeting at Thomas Hughes Memorial Hall, Uffington at 9.30am for warm up then setting off at 10.00am.
All we are asking is a £5 per person entrance fee on the day - it is up to individual if they wish to try and get sponsors. Obviously the more we can raise for Team Mikayla the better. Uffington Farmers Market, Vintage Tearoom, a Bouncy Castle and the Ice Cream Van will also be open/present on the day.

WHS Frame Marquee for hire
The White Horse Show owns a 6m x 12m framed marquee with full sides. Whilst we use this over the Show weekend, it otherwise spends the rest of the year in storage and is available to hire. The charges are as follows: - For community use within any of the 3 villages, no charge
- For private use for anyone within the 3 villages, £100
- For private use for anyone outside of the 3 villages, £200
All damage needs to be paid for but most people's home contents insurance is likely to cover it. Because the erection and striking is not entirely straightforward and we want to limit its damage, the WHS offer the help of a couple of volunteers who know how to put it up.
Additionally, the Woolstone village marquee (similar size) may be available.

Phone Upgrade Fraud
Fraudsters are impersonating telephone service providers and contacting their clients offering a phone upgrade on a low monthly payment contract. The fraudsters will glean all your personal and financial details which will then be used to contact the genuine phone provider and order a new mobile phone handset. The fraudsters will either intercept the delivery before it reaches the victim's address or order the handset to a different address.
Protect yourself - Never provide your personal information to a third party from an unsolicited communication.
- Obtain the genuine number of the organisation being represented and verify the legitimacy of the communication.
- If the offer is too good to be true it probably is.
- If you have provided personal information and you are concerned that your identity may be compromised consider Cifas Protection Registration.

Household waste recycling centres consultation
Oxford County Council is implementing the Household Waste Recycling Centre strategy that was passed by cabinet on the 15th December 2015. Part of implementing the new strategy is procuring a new management contract to operate the HWRC sites. We would like to know residents views on measures that could be implemented at sites to make savings and create income. There will be a consultation on these proposals running from 14th July to 11th August 2016. This consultation is open to all Oxfordshire householders to comment on. Understanding public views, opinions and preferences is key to our decision making process. The consultation documents are available online at www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/waste and we encourage people to complete the response questionnaire. Uffington Walking and Cycling groups | Please note: THE NEXT UFFINGTON WALK WILL NOW BE ONE WEEK EARLIER ON 27 JULY
This is to enable everyone to take advantage of the Wednesday lunches in Uffington village hall.
The lunches are provided in Thomas Hughes Memorial Hall on Wednesdays through the summer and are organised to raise funds for St.Mary's Church.
The food is always delicious, home made with many choices and the lunches are a lovely social occasion. It costs £9 for two courses.

Leaving from car park at THMH at 9:30. We are trying a new walk this time up to the railway bridge at Baulking then walking eastwards to Hale Farm. looping north to Oldfireld Farm, following footpaths BACK to Baulking via the lake.
