| Uffington Parish Council with the agreement of Baulking Parish Meeting have submitted a proposal for a neighbourhood plan area to Vale of White Horse District Council. The proposal follows the boundaries of the parish of Uffington and the area covered by Baulking Parish Meeting.

Funding for new and improved infrastructure in the district
Following on from adoption of the Local Plan, residents in the Vale of White Horse can have their say on changes to the way funding is secured for new and improved infrastructure in the district.
The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) will allow Vale of White Horse District Council to raise funds from new housing and business developments for infrastructure projects which support the growth of the district. This could include new schools, transport improvements, flood defences, and community, leisure, and health and social care facilities. The council is asking people to comment on: - Updated Draft Charging Schedule, including proposed rates for different types of developments and charging areas across the district.
- Draft Developer Contributions Supplementary Planning Document - the proposed approach to collecting infrastructure contributions through CIL and Section 106.

South Oxfordshire District Council is named the best recycler in DEFRA's annual recycling league tables for 2015/16, with neighbouring Vale of White Horse District Council in fourth place. The good news comes despite a small drop in the recycling figures in both districts due to recycling in green wheelie bins being contaminated. New policies not to empty recycling bins containing non-clear sacks came into force for both councils in November this year to tackle the problem. This has already begun to have a positive effect, and since the new policy was introduced, no lorry loads of recycling have so far been rejected due to contamination.

Thames Valley Alert - Fake bank letters | Lloyds customers should be on the lookout for a new sophisticated fraud that involves fraudsters sending fake bank letters.
The convincing letters being sent are a replica template from Lloyds and include their logo, address and signature from a customer service representative. The letter tells recipients that there have been some "unusual transactions" on their personal account and asks them to call a number highlighted in bold to confirm they are genuine.
When victims call the number, an automated welcome message is played and the caller is asked to enter their card number, account number and sort code followed by their date of birth. Victims are then instructed to enter the first and last digit of their security number.
The fraud was spotted by the Daily Telegraph who was alerted to it by a reader who had three identical letters sent to an office address. On separate occasions the Daily Telegraph ran some tests using fake details and were passed to fraudsters who claimed to be from a Lloyds contact centre. The bank has confirmed that the phone number and letters are fake.
The letters are essentially a sophisticated phishing attempt and serves as a warning to consumers to question written correspondence from their banks.

Village and Vale news 9 December | Carols and Christmas songs around the village Christmas tree on Wednesday December 21st at 7pm
There will be Carols and Christmas songs with the Wantage Silver Band around the village Christmas tree on Wednesday December 21st at 7pm. Mince pies and mulled wine will be served. Please wrap up warm and bring along a torch.
We will be collecting towards the cost of the tree and the Wantage Silver band. After our costs the remaining money from the collection will be given to the Thomas Saunders Trust.
