Uffington C of E Primary School PTA Easter Trail. Join us for our Easter Trail around Uffington village running from Monday 30th March to Sunday 12th April 2026. Explore the village and find all 34 eggs to help you crack the secret code! It's a fun activity for families to enjoy together over the Easter holidays. Uffington First Weds Walk - Wed 1st April Steventon to Abingdon. We are happy to report that we will now be able to do the walk originally planned for last month - the section of the Vale Way walk from Steventon to Abingdon. Returning by bus. (The X2 bus runs every half hour.) This walk is now wonderfully dry underfoot.
Meeting initially at 8:50 at Uffington Village Hall car park for car sharing and a 9:00am start. We will then drive to Steventon Village Hall car park OX13 6RR where the walk will commence at 9:30. Let us know if you plan to meet us in Steventon, my phone number is below for any slight delays. This walk is 5.2 miles, no hills and no stiles will take approximately 2.5hrs with coffee/snack break. Weather looking good, dry, light cloud, slight breeze and temperature in double figures. Look forward to sharing the walk with lots of you.

GENERAL
Churchyard Working Party. We had a wonderful turnout of people last Saturday for our first churchyard working party. 11 adults, 2 children and Fay providing the tea and coffee. Thank you all so much, especially the 3 recent newcomers to the village. It was a beautiful Spring day and everyone seemed to be enjoying working together. The next working party will be on Saturday morning May 2nd. Thank you again and hope to see you again on May 2nd.
Foodbank. Please can we draw your attention to the boxes for donations in St Mary's Church and Uffington Stores. Tinned and dry goods are most welcome and the boxes are emptied approximately fortnightly and greatly appreciated by Wantage and Grove centre for distribution. Have you given up something for Lent such as chocolate, wine, cakes and biscuits. Some families can't afford basics - please give generously. Thank you. FAY Forster on behalf of St Mary's.

Local government reorganisation - One Oxfordshire. Local government reorganisation will change how councils are set up, replacing our current county and district councils. Wherever you live or work you will be dealing with one single council in your local area. What we don't know yet is whether there will be one council covering the whole of Oxfordshire or if the solution will be two or even three councils for the county.

Uffington Parish Council – Communications Review
Over the coming months, the Parish Council will be reviewing how it communicates information to residents and what this information contains.
To help with this, a small initial survey has been created for residents to complete which can be found at https://www.uffingtonparish.gov.uk/community/uffington-parish-council-20878/communication-methods/ .
If residents could take a few minutes to complete this survey it would be greatly appreciated.

Daoiri Farrell Trio, Thomas Hughes Memorial Hall, Friday 27th March
The first week of Daoiri's UK tour have gone down very well with packed venues and beaming smiles. There are just a few tickets left for the trio's show here in Uffington with just a week to go and these trio shows are as scarce as hen's teeth so don't miss it. The craic will be mighty......that doesn't sound right coming from a man born in Wantage but Daoiri will make a better job of it!

GENERAL
The Dogs (Protection of Livestock) (Amendment) Act 2025. The Dogs (Protection of Livestock) (Amendment) Act 2025 represents the most significant update to livestock worrying laws in over 70 years. The Act came into force on 18 March 2026, and updates the original 1953 Dogs (Protection of Livestock) Act, bringing it in line with today's farming practices, dog ownership trends and policing capabilities.
