Jubilee Field – goal posts. The replacement goal post has now been located on the Jubilee Field along with an additional goal post to allow team games. The new goals are made of aluminium and are designed for ease of movement which will hopefully assist in an increased working life.
To enable the movement assist wheels simply turn the red handles located by the wheels clockwise so that they are pointing towards the front of the goal post (you will see the frame rise up). Once relocated, turn the handle anti-clockwise so it is pointing to the back of the goal post and the frame will lower. The goal posts are heavy and movement should not be conducted by one person. We hope you enjoy the new facilities.
OLD GOAL POST - the old goal post does have a break in the frame; however it may still be of use to someone within the parish. Before the frame is dismantled the Parish Council would like to give someone the opportunity to make use of it at their own home. To enable this, the post will be left in its current position (by the gate leading onto the Jubilee Field from the High Street) until 14th July. First come, first served and donated on an as seen basis.

Uffington 1st Wed Walk - 2nd July; Letcombe Regis/Ridgeway/Court Hill. July's walk on Wed 2nd will be a circular walk from Letcombe Regis, 5.5 miles (time allowance approx 3hrs including break). Pamela will be leading the walk, meeting as usual in the THMH hall car park at 9.20am for car sharing to Letcombe Hall car park. Or meet up at Letcombe Village Hall to commence walk at 9.50am.
Across fields, then incline up to Ridgeway - Turning East along Ridgeway to Court Hill for refreshments - Walking down Court Hill Road returning to Letcombe Regis.

Mikron Theatre – Saturday 12 July. Mikron Theatre is heading to Marcy Fields, Uffington on Saturday July 12th 12.30pm. This year's production is called 'Hush, Hush' A Bletchley park story. Mikron theatre are a professional theatre company and this year is their 53rd year touring the country in their Canal boat Tilsley and a van. There are no tickets for this event, just give a donation at the end of the show. This is an outdoor production and Mikron provide an accessible toilet in Marcy Fields. The Aldbourne Brass Band, Thomas Hughes Memorial Hall, Uffington, Friday July 25th. This is the biggest band we have ever put on, literally. Thirty strong and powered by breath the sound they make is both stirring and hugely entertaining. They have just been crowned West of England Champions 2025 and are off to the National Brass Band Championships, British Open Championships and Brass in Concert later in the year, they are one of the finest bands in the UK. Their musical director, Glynn Williams, has had a stellar career in some of the UKs most notable bands and has just taken up a permanent residency with Aldbourne. It all makes for a fantastic evening's entertainment with a brilliant band playing some of your favourite tunes. Doors open at 7.00pm and the music starts at 7.30 pm. We are appealing for witnesses to a robbery in Oxford. At around 3am on Sunday 15 June, a group of the victim, a man in his late teens, was followed from Thirst nightclub on Park End Street to outside Nando's on George Street. One of the men shouted at the victim before they assaulted him and stole his purple iPhone 14, Emporio Armani watch and a silver chain necklace. The offenders are described as four or five men aged between approximately 18-25 years.
We've made an arrest but multiple people can be seen on CCTV witnessing the robbery so please get in touch if you can help us or have any mobile phone footage that may assist us. PCC supports new videos for educators, parents and carers. Matthew Barber (Police & Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley) has announced new resources available to councils, schools, parents and carers as part of his education strategy under the Violence Prevention Partnership programme (VPP). The videos have been prepared using subject matter experts and are drawn from the lived experience of victims. They have been funded through the Violence Prevention Partnership and complement its offer for professionals and those working with young people:

Restoration of the Uffington White Horse – 23 to 27 June. Those who love the White Horse will recall that a project was started last July to restore the White Horse to its original size and shape. Surveys had shown that as a result of soil movement and the growth of turf, the visible shape of the Horse had shrunk by some 40% over the last 40 or 50 years. Good progress was made but the work was not completed. Approval was also obtained to use updated Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) to find out how old the Horse really is – 30 years ago OSL established that it dated from the late Bronze Age or early Iron Age (between 1740 and 210 BC). Nowadays it is possible to be more accurate, but there are as yet no results from this research.
The very generous Australian sponsors (Ian Godfrey and Lecki Ord) have recently agreed to fund a new season of work at the White Horse. With the agreement of English Heritage and Natural England, the National Trust, working with Oxford Archaeology and David Miles, will carry out the work from Monday 23 June to Friday 27 June 2025. The aim is to complete the restoration of the body by removing the excess chalk from the belly or trunk of the Horse. Additionally, Scheduled Monument Consent has very recently been given for an augur survey across the Horse to establish the contours of the original slope on which it was constructed.
Andrew Foley (Area Ranger, National Trust Ashdown Park Estate and White Horse Hill, will be on site all week, 10am until 3.30pm, bar Friday the 27th and again both days of the weekend so will be happy to answer any questions.

Sobell House Hospice (NHS, part of OUH) are currently recruiting Bereavement Volunteers. Although the appeal in April was partially successful, we are still short of our goal…. hence this fresh appeal. At present we support referrals from all over Oxfordshire and at time even into the bordering counties. It makes sense to recruit and train Bereavement Volunteers from these areas.
We need your help/support to continue helping people who have lost loved ones in your area. There are times, both at funerals and weddings, when having someone to welcome people into St Mary's - to assist in guiding them to their seats, making sure they have an Order of Service, know where the loo is, that the sound system is on, and all the many things which go towards people feeling at home in our beautiful 13th century building, become vital.

Tuberculosis Research in Zimbabwe gets a boost from Uffington Support. On the 30th May, Dr Angus de Wilton and historian Francis Klemencic spoke to the village about Tuberculosis in the Thomas Hughes Memorial Hall.
