UFFINGTON PARISH COUNCIL
Parking. Uffington Parish Council would like to request that all residents act in a considerate manner when parking their vehicles. With many roads within the village having single pathways, blocking these and obstructing access does create a risk to individuals and in many cases is an offence. Care should also be taken when parking on the road, if this could cause an issue with adjacent roads and access it could result in a financial penalty.
Thank you for helping keep the village a safe place.

THOMAS HUGHES MEMORIAL HALL
The Thomas Hughes Memorial Hall has multiple bookings nearly every day. To ensure smooth running, it is necessary to operate a daily inspection rota to check the building has been left clean and tidy by each hire and that heating, lighting, taps etc have not been left on. The Hall Committee is a very small group and we would welcome help with the daily inspection rota. If you live nearby, perhaps pass the building regularly to visit the shop, we would be most grateful if you could offer to help increase the number of members on the rota. Each person on the rota carries out daily checking for a week and the more people on the rota, the less often your turn comes round! When holidays and other commitments arise, it is simple to send an email or text to other members on the rota to arrange cover.
If you or your organisation are hall users, being on the inspection rota would be a “thank you” for the fact we have such a useful facility in our community!

🚨 Early release scheme support.  The early release of offenders under the Sentencing Act 2026 starts today (1 October).  For many victims of crime, the early release of an offender can cause anxiety and distress. The Helpline is there to:

PCC calls for additional funding to police MOD Bicester asylum camp. Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Barber, has called on the Government to provide full funding for the increased policing costs associated with the proposed asylum camp at MOD Bicester.
Matthew said: “I am extremely concerned about the additional burden the Government's proposed asylum camp at MOD Bicester will have on local policing. The force has reviewed the numbers and, if planning permission was to be granted at the site, we estimate the additional cost to Thames Valley Police would be around £1.7 million per annum during the construction phase.”

Vandalism - Uffington Allotments

It is with great regret that on Sunday 20th September several acts of vandalism took place at the allotments located on Fernham Road.

A group of youths were seen leaving the allotments following the vandalism and the identities have been provided to the Parish Council. This is not harmless fun, it is criminal damage and as stated in previous posts this will not be tolerated.

The identities provided have been passed to the Neighbourhood Policing Team, however if the individuals would like to apologise directly this can be arranged through the Clerk who can be contacted on 07888 203145 or email clerk@uffingtonparish.gov.uk.
