Maurice "Mo" Dickson, St Nicholas Church, Baulking, Saturday 25th July. Our penultimate show of the year features Lisburn, Co. Antrim's favourite son Maurice Dickson. He is a brilliant singer/songwriter who, over several decades, has made a string of fine records and is a fantastic guitar player, and any other instrument with strings on, it appears. He is equally at home with one of his own songs, guitar pieces or even a blues classic. I first came across him through his Country Pickin' Blues record but there are seven other wonderful albums to choose from. He has toured the world and goes where his camper van takes him and, on the 25th July, it will be Baulking.
A fantastic way to spend an evening in a cool, literally, venue with a great musician and a reasonably priced cold drink. Tickets are £15 each from cowmuckp@gmail.com
GENERAL
White Horse Gardening Club News. The annual plant sale trail raised a fantastic £1,219.90. Whilst the primary aim of this fund raising event is to provide quality speakers, the WHGC Committee decided to make two donations: A) £500 to The Great Dixter Charitable Trust that provides learning opportunities to educate people to become top level gardeners and ensure the conservation of the Great Dixter estate. B) £100 to Fern Meadows in Faringdon who have just formed their own gardening club for residents and our donation will allow them to buy much needed gardening equipment.
Recycling computer ink cartridges and other things. Following the refurbishment of the village shop, the owners have kindly agreed that I can continue to use it as a collection point for computer ink cartridges, raising funds for the Suited & Booted charity. However, please note that the collection box will now be INSIDE the shop, so hand your cartridges over at the counter. Black, colour, new, used, original and refilled computer ink cartridges are all welcome. However, PLEASE no leaking cartridges, toner or laser cartridges.
Also, I will be very happy to receive your unwanted medical appliances, dressings or in-date medication (including over-the-counter painkillers), which I send out to Ukraine through an Oxford based charity. And if you have any unwanted gentlemen's suits, shirts, cufflinks, ties or leather shoes in interview-ready condition, I would welcome those for Suited & Booted.
Please note that I no longer take stamps, but you can donate these to RNIB via a collection box in Shellingford church or to Sobell House at their shop in Wantage.
Thank you. Mike Thomas 07803035603
Coffee pods. Many thanks to the Uffington residents who took the coffee pods advertised earlier in the week, and in response have made a donation to one of my favourite charities – the Injured Jockeys Fund - Home - Injured Jockeys Fund

Once the government decides to approve a local government reorganisation (LGR) proposal, the real work begins. While the decision itself is a major milestone, it's only the start of a long, carefully managed transition designed to make sure services continue smoothly and residents are supported every step of the way. Continued progress in making communities safer. Matthew Barber, Police & Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley, has published his latest Annual Report highlighting progress made against his Police and Crime Plan.
The report demonstrates how continued investment in neighbourhood policing, support for victims, and targeted action on priority crime areas is helping to reduce harm and build safer communities across the Thames Valley.
The introduction of a Crime Education Hub, the establishment of the Thames Valley Road Victim Support Service, and the publication of the PCC’s Vehicle Crime Strategy are central to this progress. In addition, a recent refresh of the Data Hub has reinforced the OPCC’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
