Uffington Village News 4 September 2026

UFFINGTON PARISH COUNCIL
Uffington Feast and Scarrotts Fair. Unfortunately, we have been advised by George Scarrott that due to declining support over the last few years and increased financial costs that the fair will not be coming to the Jubilee Field this year. George has said that it was not an easy decision with a long history of the fair in the village and would like to thank everyone for their support over the years. This is not the end, just some time to regroup.

Planning.
Solar farm proposal. The Council has been advised that Cearn Solar Farm Ltd, a subsidiary of Telis Energy UK, is developing proposals for Cearn Solar Farm, a solar energy and battery storage project located on land within the Vale of White Horse District, Oxfordshire. They are developing a site comprising of three main development areas, situated to the south of Garford, east of Charney Bassett, north of West Hanney, south of Goosey and north-east of Baulking. (Not in Uffington parish). Electricity generated by Cearn Solar Farm would be exported via underground cables to National Grid’s proposed Farmoor substation, located approximately 12km north-east of the site.
